NJAA Radio Astronomy Project
10foot (3m) dish receiving 1420 MHz
We have converted the 10 foot 3 m parabolic dish to receive the hydrogen H1 line. It has been refitted with a tuned cavity feed along with an outer choke to further reduce noise. Inside the cavity feed there is a quarter wave antenna directly attached to a sawbird LNA powered by biased T. That signal is being brought into the computer room via a 55ft low loss cable that is attached to a RTL/SDR Radio. Operating the SDRSharp software is an Intel i7 14700 computer with 64 GB memory 20 Cores, 28 threads and boost to 5.4GHz .
