Before you contact us, does this answer your question?
Can we come and look throught the telescope?
Yes, everyone is invited to come and visit the Observatory and look through the telescopes during our public hours.
When is the best time to visit?
The quick answer is any time the facility is open and the sky is clear. But for some (those with young children), the best time is when
there is some planet or moon in the sky like First Quarter and/or 3rd Quarter. You can find the answer for tese by looking at our
Sky Guide page.
Do you have programs for children?
We offer 6 youth program events a year available to all but seating is limited and sign up required. We also offer scout merit badge training
sessions and youth group tours.
What is there to see?
Literally the skies the limit. Our staff is trained to take visitors on a tour of the night sky that is chock full of planets, galaxies,
nebulae and clusters of stars. During the season when we are open on Sunday's we also offer solar viewing, sunspots and solar prominences
may be visable if the Sun is cooperating!
How much is admission?
There is no admission fee. But since we have no affiliation with any organization, company or university that is willing to pay some or all
of our bills, we rely on generous donations of members and visitors to provide funding. All of our staff are volunteers, so 100% of the
money goes to maintaining the equipment, facility and to pay for all the visitor programs and exhibits.
How long a drive is it?
We are located in Voohees State Park in Lebanon Twp (just north of the town of High Bridge). It takes a little over an hour to reach us
from NYC, and a little more than 2.5 hours from Cape May. For an estimate try Yahoo! mapping. Paste this into the A box:251 County Road Route 513 Glen Gardner, NJ and enter your address into the B box.
